Books are the greatest escape!

Reeling from a divorce from an abusive husband, Lyra travels to a remote primordial lake to identify her dead sister’s body and deal with her estate. Lyra is a fish out of water in these boggy backwoods, and tries to navigate her way through the murky waters of lies, mysteries, and misdirection. 

Almost immediately she becomes the target of a series of deadly attacks. She becomes convinced her sister’s death wasn’t an accident, but trying to discover the truth in the large web of secrets drags her into a chilling vortex of fear, doubt, and suspicion of everyone she meets.

When two teenagers are sent to spend the summer with their great-aunts, they stumble into an unexpected nightmare — girls are vanishing, a string doll left behind at the site of each abduction. Travis becomes obsessed with finding the culprit, but his pursuit of the man behind it all has terrible consequences. Fifteen years later, the past returns with a vengeance, and this time the killer isn’t hunting just anyone -- he’s hunting them.
